അപരാധിയോ നിരപരാധിയോ
ഹൈദ്രാബാദ്: വിവാദ സുവിശേഷകനായ കെ.എ.പോള്‍ സഹോദരന്റെ കൊലപാതകവുമായുണ്ടായ വിവാദങ്ങളില്‍ ആന്ധ്രയിലെ ഒങ്കാളോയിലെ ഒരു ഹോട്ടലില്‍ നിന്നും അറസ്റ്റിലായി. അമേരിക്കന്‍ ഇന്ത്യനും, ആന്ധ്ര സ്വദേശിയും, പ്രജാ ശാന്തി എന്ന സ്വന്തം രാഷ്ട്രീയ പാര്‍ട്ടിയുടെ പ്രസിഡന്റെുമായ പോള്‍ കുറേക്കാലമായി വിവിധതരം വിവാദങ്ങളില്‍ അകപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. അറസ്റ്റലായ കെ.എ.പോളിനെ കോടതി 14 ദിവസത്തെ റിമാന്റില്‍ വിട്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ്.
1963 സെപ്റ്റംബര്‍ 25ന് ആന്ധ്രയിലെ ഒരു ചെറിയ ഗ്രാമമായ, ചിട്ടിവല്‍സായില്‍ ബര്‍ന്നബാസിന്റെയും സന്തോശാമ്മയുടെയും മകനായി ഒരു ഹിന്ദു കുടുംബത്തിലാണ് കെ.പോള്‍ ജനിച്ചത്. ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ യഥാര്‍ത്ത പേര് ആനന്ദ് കിലാരി എന്നാണ്. 1966ല്‍ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ ക്രിസ്തുമതം സ്വീകരിക്കുകയും, അതിനെതുടര്‍ന്ന് 1971 ല്‍ 8 വയസ്സുകാരനായ കെ.ഓ പോളും ക്രൈസ്തവ മതം സ്വീകരിച്ചു. ഒരു സുവിശേഷകനെന്ന് സ്വയം അഭിമാനിച്ച് സുവിശേഷ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളില്‍ ഏര്‍പ്പെട്ടു. സുവിശേഷ ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ പ്രാരംഭ കാലഘട്ടത്തില്‍ ഇന്ത്യയിലെ അനേകം ഗ്രാമങ്ങള്‍ സഞ്ചരിച്ച് ആയിരങ്ങളോട് സുവിശേഷം അറിയിച്ചു. 19-ാം വയസ്സില്‍ പൂര്‍ണ്ണ സമയ സുവിശേഷകനായി പോള്‍ മാറി.
ലോക സമാധാനത്തിനുള്ള പദ്ധതികള്‍ ആവിഷ്കരിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് 2004 മാര്‍ച്ച് 2-ാം തീയതി മനുഷ്യ സ്‌നേഹ പരമായ പ്രവര്‍ത്തികള്‍ ഏര്‍പ്പെട്ടു. അങ്ങനെ സ്വയം ഒരു ജീവകാരുണ്യ സംഘടന രൂപികരിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ പോളിന് ലോകത്തിന്‍ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് കണക്കില്ലാതെ പണം ലഭിക്കുവാന്‍ തുടങ്ങി. പോളിന്റെ അനുയായികള്‍ ഇങ്ങനെ ലോകത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളില്‍ ലഭ്യമായ പണം ഉപയോഗിച്ച് 747Sp വിമാനം സ്വന്തമാക്കി. ഈ വിമാനം നേരത്തെ ചൈന എയര്‍ലൈന്‍സിന്റെ സ്വന്തം ആയിരുന്നു. വിമാനത്തിന് പോള്‍ നല്‍കിയ പേര് "ലോക സമാധാനത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥാനപതി''(Glabal Pease Ambassadors) എന്നാണ്. ലോക സമാധാനത്തിനുള്ളത് (Global Pease One) എന്ന പേരുക്കൂടിയുള്ള ഈ വിമാനത്തില്‍ മൂന്നാം ലോക രാജ്യങ്ങള്‍ പ്രകൃതിക്ഷോഭങ്ങളാല്‍ കഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവരുടെ, ദുരിതമനുവഭിക്കുന്നവരേയും സഹായിക്കുവാന്‍ പോള്‍ എത്തിച്ചേര്‍ന്നു.
വിദ്ദേശത്തു നിന്നുള്ള അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന സാമ്പത്തിക സ്രോതസ്സായ Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability ഗുരുതരമായ സാമ്പത്തിക ക്രമക്കേടുകളെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് പോളിന്റെ സംഘടനയുടെ അംദത്വം റദ്ദാക്കി. അതിനു കാരണമായത് ഗവണ്‍മെന്റിന്റെ നിയമങ്ങള്‍ക്കനുസരിച്ച് സമ്പത്തികം കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യുവാന്‍ പോളിനുണ്ടായ വിമുഖതയാണ്. കൃത്യമായ കണക്കുകള്‍ ഗവണ്‍മെന്റിനെ കാണിക്കുന്നതിനോ, ലഭിക്കുന്ന തുകയ്ക്ക് അനുസൃതമായി നികുതി നല്‍കുന്നതിനോ അദ്ദേഹം തയ്യാറായില്ല. അതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് 2007 സെപ്റ്റംബറില്‍ ഇന്ത്യയിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങിയെത്തുകയും, രാഷ്ട്രീയ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളില്‍ വ്യാപൃതനാവുകയും ചെയ്തു. പ്രജാ ശാന്തി എന്ന ഒരു രാഷ്ട്രീയ സംഘടന അദ്ദേഹം രൂപികരിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹം രാഷ്ട്രീയ നയ വിശദീകരണ യോഗങ്ങളില്‍ പ്രചരിപ്പിച്ചത്, സോണിയ ഗാന്ധി ഒരു ക്രിസ്ത്യാനി ആയതുകൊണ്ട് ഇന്ത്യന്‍ പാര്‍ലമെന്റില്‍ ക്രൈസ്തവര്‍ക്ക് ഒരു ഏക പക്ഷ രൂപികരണം സാധ്യമാകുമെന്നാണ്. അങ്ങനെ ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ജനങ്ങളെ സേവിക്കുവാന്‍ കഴിയും എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം വിശ്വിക്കുകയും ആശിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. എന്നാല്‍ തുടര്‍ന്ന് പല തരത്തിലുള്ള അപകീര്‍ത്തികരമായ സംഭവങ്ങളിലുടെ അദ്ദേഹം കടന്നു പോയി, അതില്‍ ഒന്നാണ് തന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ കൊലപാതകവും. ഇതിനു തുല്യമായ മറ്റൊരു സംഭവം ആയിരുന്നു, ന്യൂയോര്‍ക്കിലെ സീറോ പോയിന്റില്‍ ഖുറാന്‍ കത്തിക്കും എന്ന് പ്രസ്താവിച്ച ഫ്‌ളോറിഡായിലെ വിവാദ പാസ്റ്ററായ ടെറി ജോണ്‍സിന്റെ ഒപ്പം ചേര്‍ന്ന് അവിടുത്തെ ഇമാമിന് കത്ത് കൊടുത്തത്. രാഷ്ട്രീയ പാര്‍ട്ടി രൂപികരിച്ചെങ്കിലും അനുയായികളെ പിടിച്ചു നിര്‍ത്തുന്നതില്‍ പോള്‍ പരാജയപ്പെട്ടു, കാരണം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അപക്വമായ ജീവിതവും തീരുമാനവും ആര്‍ക്കും സഹിക്കുവാന്‍ കഴിയുന്നതിലും അപ്പുറമായിരുന്നു.
പോളിനെ അറസ്റ്റു ചെയ്യുന്നതിന് കാരണമായ സംഭവത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് പോലിസ് പറയുന്നത്. പോളിന്റെ സഹോദരന്‍ രാജു (ദാനിയോല്‍) 2010ല്‍ ദരൂഹമായ ഒരു സാഹചര്യത്തില്‍ ആന്ധ്രായിലെ മഹാബുബ് നഗറിലുള്ള ഹൈവോയില്‍ കുല ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടതായി കാണപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു അതിനു കാരണമായത് പിതൃ സ്വത്തിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വസ്തു തര്‍ക്കമായിരുന്നു . ഇപ്പോള്‍ അറസ്റ്റിന് കാരണമായത് തന്നെ സഹായിച്ചിരുന്ന കൊട്ടേശ്വര റാവുവിനെ അദ്ദേഹം നിരാകരിച്ചതാണ്. പോളിന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ കൊലപാതകത്തില്‍ പങ്കുണ്ടെന്ന് അരോപണ വിധേയനായ വ്യക്തി ആയിരുന്നു റാവു. ഈക്കാര്യം പറഞ്ഞ് പലപ്പോഴും റാവു പോളിനെ മുതലെടുത്തു കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. അതു കൊണ്ട് തന്നെ റാവുവിനെ ഒരു കൃത്രിമ ഏറ്റു മുട്ടലില്‍ കൊലപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിന് 1 കോടി രൂപ ആന്ധ്രയിലെ ഒരു പോലിസ് മേധാവി വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്യുകയും, മുന്‍ കൂറായി മൂന്നു ലക്ഷം രൂപാ കൈ മാറുകയും ചെയതതായും കണ്ടെത്തി. കെ.എ പോള്‍ അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത് ഇന്‍ഡ്യന്‍ ഭരണഘടനയുടെ 120ആയും (മനുഷ്യനെ ബലമായി പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു പോയി ഒളിപ്പിച്ചു വെയ്ക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള പദ്ധതി ആവിഷ്കരണം ചെയ്യുക. അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ ഗൂഡാലോടന നടത്തുക ) 307ഉം (കുലപാതകം നടത്തുക) വകുപ്പ് അനുസരിച്ചാണ്‌
The police took him into custody from a hotel in Ongole town early Monday. He was presented before a local court, which remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days. Two of his associates were also arrested.
His brother David Raj was found dead under suspicious circumstances in February 2010 in Mahabubnagar district. The dispute between two brothers over property led to the murder, police said.
Koteshwara Rao, Paul's aide, who allegedly played a key role in the murder of Raj, was reportedly trying to blackmail Paul. The evangelist decided to eliminate Rao and offered a huge bribe of Rs.1 crore to police to kill him in an encounter.
He had even paid Rs.3 lakh and this was secretly filmed by a police officer and based on this evidence, Paul was arrested, police said.
Paul, however, alleged that he was arrested under a conspiracy by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and YSR Congress Party leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.
Paul, who recently floated Praja Shanti Party, is a well-known evangelist, and was once close to some top politicians and key officials in India and abroad.
The evangelist had made a sensational allegation in 2009 that then chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had demanded Rs.20 crore from him for the Congress Party's poll campaign. Reiterating his allegation last month, Paul alleged that when he refused to oblige, Rajasekhara Reddy started harassing him by booking cases against him and seizing his bank accounts.
Paul called the shots when N. Chandrababu Naidu of the Telugu Desam Party was the chief minister. He was also close to then Lok Sabha speaker G.M.C. Balayogi and several other politicians.
HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh police today arrested evangelist K A Paul for allegedly conspiring to kill a person.
Raghurami Reddy, Superintendent of Police, Prakasam, said that Paul was charged under IPC sections 120 B (for hatching criminal conspiracy to abduct) and 307 (attempt to murder). In addition, he is facing a charge under Prevention of Corruption Act too.
According to the police, Paul tried to eliminate Koteswara Rao, the main accused in the case related to murder of Paul's brother, Daniel.
Daniel was found dead on a highway in 2010 under mysterious circumstances. "Paul was arrested for conspiring to eliminate Koteswara. He had tried to lure a police official by offering a bribe to kill Koteswar in (fake) encounter," Reddy told PTI.
Paul allegedly offered Rs one crore to a police inspector, and paid Rs 3 lakh as advance.
Paul, who was in Ongole to campaign for his outfit 'Praja Shanti Party' for the ensuing bypolls, was remanded in judicial custody after he was produced in a local court.
The evangelist came into news after he alleged that Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, the then chief minister, had demanded Rs 20 crore from him for election funds. Paul said he had refused to give the money. Later he floated his own party. Talking to reporters before being sent to the local prison, Paul said Congress leaders and Y S Jaganmohan Reddy conspired to send him to jail.
