Sibal dedicated the centre to the nation. Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy praised the efforts of the previous Left government to ensure that the centre was set up. 'When we took over the government, we also did our bit and finally it has become a reality,' said Chandy.

The AMU special centre is being set up here as part of the plans to set up five such AMU centres in the country. 

The first batch of classes for MBA and LLb have already commenced at a temporary centre near the new campus.

During the previous Left government's tenure, Indian Union Muslim League, an ally of the Congress, was insistent that the new centre be set up near Panakkad, which is the headquarters of the party.

But last year, the Left government took the lead and got full possession of the 336 acres at Cholamalla in Malappuram district, which has the largest Muslim population in the state.

At Saturday's function, Sibal also laid the foundation stone for the new campus. Five hostels for men and three hostels for women would come up soon.

The central government has sanctioned Rs.200 crore for the AMU centre. Its campus is expected to be ready in five years, and will have facilities from pre-school to a full-fledged medical college.

The state government will spend Rs.100 crore on the development of the campus.

Remove derogatory content by February 6, court tells 21 websites 21 വെബ്‌സൈറ്റുകള്‍ക്ക് കോടതിയുടെ നോട്ടീസ്‌

 
NEW DELHI: In yet another blow to 21 social networking sites including Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Yahoo and Youtube, a Delhi court has asked the 21 websites to remove all derogatory content by February 6, 2012. The court had issued summons to them for facing trial for allegedly webcasting objectionable contents.

Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) Sudesh Kumar took cognizance on a private criminal complaint and has directed the Centre for taking 'immediate appropriate steps' and also file a report in the court by January 13.

All the 21 defendants have been told to file compliance order by the same date next year. The websites will face contempt of court in case they fail to remove the objectionable content by February 6.

The court's order came three days after another court in a civil case had restrained these sites including Facebook, Google and Youtube from webcasting any 'anti-religious' or 'anti-social' content promoting hatred or communal disharmony.

In the fresh case, the court said, 'it appears from a bare perusal of the documents that prima facie the accused in connivance with each other and other unknown persons are selling, publicly exhibiting and have put into circulation obscene, lascivious content which also appears to the prurient interests and tends to deprave and corrupt the persons who are likely to read, see or hear the same.'

'It is also evident that such contents are continuously openly and freely available to everyone who is using the said network irrespective of their age and even the persons under the age of 18 years have full and uncensored access to such obscene contents,' the court said.

The MM has summoned the accused companies to face trial for allegedly committing the offence punishable under section 292 (sale of obscene books etc), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young person etc) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.

The Magistrate noted that in these websites material submitted by the complainant, Vinay Rai, a journalist, contained obscene picture and derogatory articles pertaining to Prophet Mohammad, Jesus Christ and various Hindu Gods and Godesses.PTI

ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി: പ്രകോപനപരമായ ലേഖനങ്ങളും ചിത്രങ്ങളും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചതിന്റെ പേരില്‍ ഫേസ്ബുക്ക്, ഗൂഗിള്‍, യാഹൂ, മൈക്രോസോഫ്റ്റ് തുടങ്ങിയ 21 വെബ്‌സൈറ്റുകള്‍ക്ക് ഡല്‍ഹി മെട്രോപൊളിറ്റന്‍ മജിസ്‌ട്രേറ്റ് കോടതി സമന്‍സ് അയച്ചു. ഇത്തരം പരാമര്‍ശങ്ങളുള്ള ലേഖനങ്ങളും ഫോട്ടോകളും ഫിബ്രവരി ആറിനകം നീക്കം ചെയ്യണമെന്ന് കോടതി ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. ഇതു സംബന്ധിച്ച് ജനവരി 13നകം റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് സമര്‍പ്പിക്കാന്‍ കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാരിനോടും മജിസ്‌ട്രേറ്റ് സുധേഷ്‌കുമാര്‍ അവശ്യപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.

പ്രവാചകന്‍ മുഹമ്മദ് നബി, യേശുക്രിസ്തു, വിവിധ ഹിന്ദു ദേവീദേവന്മാര്‍ എന്നിവരുടെ മോശപ്പെട്ട ചിത്രങ്ങളും ഇവരെ മോശമായി ചിത്രീകരിക്കുന്ന ലേഖനങ്ങളും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു എന്നു കാണിച്ച് മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകനായ വിനയ് റായി നല്‍കിയ ഹരജിയിലാണ് കോടതി ഇവരെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്താന്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചത്. അശ്ലീല പുസ്തകങ്ങള്‍ വില്‍ക്കല്‍, കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് അശ്ലീല പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണങ്ങളും വസ്തുക്കളും വില്‍ക്കല്‍, ക്രിമിനല്‍ ഗൂഢാലോചന തുടങ്ങിയ കുറ്റങ്ങള്‍ ചെയ്തുവെന്നു കാണിച്ചാണ് കോടതി ഈ വെബ്‌സൈറ്റുകള്‍ക്ക് നോട്ടീസ് അയച്ചത്.

മതവിരുദ്ധവും സാമൂഹ്യവിരുദ്ധവുമായ ലേഖനങ്ങളും ഫോട്ടോകളും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചുവെന്നു കാണിച്ച് ഒരു സിവില്‍ കോടതി ഫേസ്ബുക്കിനും ഗൂഗിളിനും യൂട്യൂബിനും നോട്ടീസ് അയച്ചതിന്റെ തൊട്ടുപിറകെയാണ് ഡെല്‍ഹി കോടതിയുടെ നടപടി.
